Facelift

Ageing, environmental conditions, genetics, smoking, stress. All of these factors have a contribution to the condition and state of the skin. A facelift will make the face appear younger, fresh and more vibrant. The procedure will not achieve feminizing results as a stand-alone option; it nonetheless provides another dimension to an overall FFS strategy.
With men, they tend to develop more fullness under the chin, creating excess skin and fat. At some point, all individuals will begin to show sagging in the neck, jowls, and in the grooves at the sides of the nose to the corners of the lips—the nasolabial folds.
Depending on your age, Dr. Bensimon will advise whether this point in your life is the right time to pursue a facelift. For those over 40 or 50 years-old, one of the major benefits of this procedure is with the lower jaw. As it becomes smaller with feminization, it loses tissue support. Tightening this could become necessary if a jaw reduction procedure is performed.
,If you under 40 or 50 years-old and with sufficient elasticity, the excess skin left after jaw reduction or V-line will contract appropriately. If not, the loss of elasticity will become an issue that might require attention. This excess skin could appear in early jowls, a fold of skin in your upper neck, or deeper nasolabial grooves.
Although there are many types of facelifts, Dr. Bensimon works with SMAS, or superficial muscular aponeurotic system. This is a deep, underlying layer of facial muscle and fibrous tissue. The SMAS layer is lifted in an upward direction, separate from the skin, which is also pulled backward in an extremely gentle fashion.
Since SMAS involves deeper layers, this facelift methodology tends to last longer than the traditional “skin lift”. Dr. Bensimon will gauge what is the most effective facelift strategy, as SMAS may not be appropriate for everyone. This will be discussed further during the consultation.
Often, a facelift is suggested as a second stage surgery if many FFS procedures are done at the same time.
Post-op, a facelift will produce swelling and bruising that will subside in a few weeks. Recuperation time is based per individual as everyone heals differently. Nevertheless, it is recommended to remain off work for a period of two to four weeks. To ease comfort it is best to sleep with the head elevated and avoid any make-up during this time asides from natural, unscented moisturizers.
A facelift is a fantastic addition to FFS and could yield beautiful results that are typically seen about three to four months post-op. All of Dr. Bensimon patients have been beyond satisfied with their final outcome.
